The “philosophy” of the project, its history:
Gerhard Gschlößl, Marc Schmolling and Wanja Slavin formed Jazzkollektiv Berlin – the first collective of jazz musicians in Germany – in December 2007. Only a short time later Daniel Glatzel and Felix Wahnschaffe, in January 2009, Philipp Gropper, Johannes Lauer and Ronny Graupe joined, five other vigorous representatives of Contemporary Jazz in Berlin. These artists are organized as a collective to achieve their creative aims, which they have pursued alone for years, with united strength and efficiency. Supporting each other in the field of public relations and planning events together they want to address an audience as large as possible. All decisions discussed and reached by Jazzkollektiv Berlin are based on a democratic process. Every musician enjoys total artistic freedom.
