Planning, Organisation and Realisation of JazzWerkstatt events in Vienna at WUK once a year starting 2005: Events ranged from 10 to 24 days and attracted an audience of over 9000 with over 150 musicians involved. These events served as important focus point for new ensembles, compositions and initiatives and has been a role model for similar events in Graz and Bern.

In a few words, please describe the origin and the objective of the collective: gathering on political bases ::: trade-union ::: aesthetic ::: geographical…?
"JazzWerkstatt Wien" understands itself as a center for invention and production of music, not as a promoter or concert host. Our goal is to advance development of original music, everything between Improvisation and Compostion – and to provide professional infrastructure. Last but not least an adjustment oft the term "Jazz", a correction of the public image is part of our activities. With all due love and respect to Tradition we do not want to take part in the styles and categories game. We do not engage in the preservation of historical monuments, we are not part of the modern movement trying to market Jazzmusic in Fashion magazines – we see Jazz as a timeless form of art, constantly trying to reinvent itself...

Thank you to also specify if the structure is opened or closed, which are the conditions to access it (co-optation, vote,…) if there is various statutes within the collective…
There are already 2 new collectives who used JazzwerkstattWien as a Role Model to start their own.
